Earthrun Ibiza 2009

Aim
Earthrun is a global awareness and fund-raising initiative that brings people together to build green communities and a sustainable future.

Description
On Sunday the 26th of April 2009 from 11am, there will be a local run/walk/cycle event, open for all members of the island community.
The event will take place along a route from the 'Seaview hotel' in Port des Torrent in the municipality of San Jose, following the coastal road all the way to the 'Passeig de Ses Fonts' in San Antonio. Here some of the participants will finish their 5km journey while others will continue along the coastal pathway via cafe del Mar and Cala des Moro, passing by the Hotel Tanit, and back through the town of San Antonio to finish again in the Passeig de Ses Fonts, making a total of 10km.

Participants will be asked to seek sponsorship from friends and family, in order to raise funds which will later be donated to the 'Greenheart Resonancia' environmental education project, now running for a number of years on the island (www.resonancia.greenheart.es).
Apart from actual participants in the Earth-run, there will be several volunteer opportunities for the event,. Individuals can help with pre-event or same day preparations and roles.
Example opportunities are:
• day of the event volunteer • registration • entertainment • clean up team
• community fund-raising • VIPs • education awareness
Participants will learn about environmental organizations & initiatives that operate in their region and how to get involved.

We invite the private and public sector to provide in-kind and cash sponsorships for Earth Run. Through sponsorship you are able to get your message out to and connect with thousands of environmentally conscious individuals.

After the main event has been completed, interested participants will be invited to join us for
a special presentation of the 'Greenheart Resonancia' project at The Casita Verde
model ecological centre near Benimusa from 14.00h. There will be children's activities and live music, as well as vegetarian food and natural drinks made from local products.

Conclusion

Earthrunibiza becomes an innovative yearly non-profit event
to encourage, the public and private sector to support and participate in initiatives,
that help build green communities .
We aim to work closely with private & public sector partners to engage youth and promote sustainable lifestyle choices for the future..
